Digital Or Death – The Choice Facing The Modern Company

Benefits of digital

Sounds very ominous doesn’t it?

Before I allay your fears, I want to make one very strong point; Outdated systems, or failure to move with the times will eventually kill any business, no matter its size.

Right, now that that is out of the way, breathe, stay calm and carry on reading.

So, what do we mean by Digital?

Simple really, we are in the digital age. Your customers are going digital, their lives are going digital, your suppliers are going digital. The world is going digital, one reluctant business at a time.

Customer behaviour is so key to ensuring business survival. Your customers are almost definitely, 100% of them, using the internet. Using apps on their phones or their lives are being driven by the internet and apps on phones etc.

Do you need to go fully digital today?

Not at all.

But, you’ve almost definitely got outdated systems for dealing with some aspects of your business. You’re almost definitely using paper or people to do some jobs that a computer could do quicker, more efficiently, more effectively and cheaper.

Now, that doesn’t mean you have to start firing everyone and replacing them with computers. Far from it. But it is definitely worth assessing what parts of your business processes (most likely in administration) you could automate.

What do we mean by “Go Digital”?

A point to make here; If you’ve stopped using paper and your now using Excel sheets for everything, you haven’t gone digital. You’ve gone paperless!

Going digital is using software to streamline the administrative and time-consuming processes of your business in order to free up staff time to focus on other things to benefit your company.

Ideally you want software to be cloud-based, so if disaster struck your office and it burned down, you wouldn’t lose everything. You’d be insulated against disaster and against mishap. Being cloud based, even if your office was a heap of ash, you’d still be able to get into all your data from your laptop at home.

Depending on what kind of business you are, there will be different systems or software that best suit you. It’s just a matter of a little bit of research.
